Kirkland Museum volunteers work as docents, in visitor services, and as staff aides. Volunteer service at the museum is a professional commitment upon which the staff depends. It would be impossible to offer our visitors a great museum experience without our volunteers. We request that all volunteer applicants be willing to commit to serving a minimum of 4 hours per month. For docent/tour guides, this represents at least 2 tours per month. For Visitor Service volunteers, at least one shift (4 to 6 hours) is required per month. Staff aids assist with special projects as needed.
We are currently accepting applications for volunteer Visitor Service Specialists (VS).
VS Specialists are responsible for admissions, visitor orientation, gift shop sales and additional museum support. As the front line of visitor contact, they enjoy interacting with people to create an enriching museum experience. Customer service and retail experience are helpful for this volunteer position.
Applications are not being accepted at this time for docent/tour guide training.
The museum completed a 12 week Docent/Tour Guide Training Program at the end of 2007 and we expect to begin the next Training Program in 2009. Updated docent training information will be posted here as it becomes available.
Applications are not being accepted at this time for staff aide positions.
